Greyhound Racing SA and the RSPCA are investigating allegations of live baiting being used by a South Australian greyhound trainer.
The organisation has released a statement saying it made a snap visit to a property yesterday north of Adelaide with staff from the RSPCA to collect evidence.
Several items were seized, the RSPCA said.
SA Police officers also attended.
The trainer's licence was suspended immediately.
Live baiting is the practice of using a live animal, such as a rabbit, possum or piglet, to train greyhounds.
Greyhound Racing SA said anyone found to use live baiting on a dog faced a mandatory life ban.
He or she could also be sent to jail for up to four years or fined up to $50,000.
If proven, it would be the first case of live baiting recorded in South Australia.
"We have a proven commitment to animal welfare and our focus on integrity underpins everything we do," Greyhound Racing SA said in a statement.
"We have an absolute zero-tolerance approach to any participant found to be in breach of those standards."
A live baiting scandal in NSW in 2015 led to the announcement of a ban that never went ahead.
