Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie' Dominates 14Th Music Supervisors Guild Awards

Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie' emerged as a big winner at the 14th Music Supervisors Guild Awards, held at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles on March 3. The prestigious event honors excellence in music supervision across various entertainment mediums, including film, television, documentaries, advertising, trailers, and video games.

George Drakoulias, the music supervisor for 'Barbie,' clinched two awards for his exceptional work on the film. He won the Best Music Supervision for a Film Budgeted Over $25 Million and the Best Song Written and/or Recorded for a Film for the track 'What Was I Made For?' performed by Billie Eilish and Finneas.

Frankie Pine also stood out at the ceremony, securing two awards for her contributions to the Prime Video series 'Daisy Jones and the Six.' Additionally, Alex Hackford received two awards for his work on the video game 'Marvel's Spider-Man 2.'

The event paid tribute to the late musician Robbie Robertson, honoring him with the Icon Award for his significant impact on the music and film industries. A special performance featuring Margo Price, Rocco DeLuca, and Johnny Sheppard celebrated Robertson's musical legacy.

Other notable moments from the ceremony included a career recognition for Allan Mason, who received the Legacy Award for his influence on the entertainment industry. Live performances included renditions of songs from various projects, such as 'American Symphony' and 'The L Word: Generation Q.'

The awards were presented by a diverse lineup of industry figures, including Nia Vardalos, Ben Platt, and Mark Ronson, among others. The winners spanned categories such as film, television, documentaries, advertising, trailers, and video games, showcasing the breadth of talent in the field of music supervision.

Overall, the 14th Music Supervisors Guild Awards highlighted the outstanding achievements of music supervisors and underscored the crucial role of music in enhancing storytelling across different forms of media.
