Greggs launches new summer items featuring Mexican chicken and vegan options

If you're looking to spice up your lunch, it looks like Greggs has you covered with a range of exciting new additions to its summer menu, including a vegan option.

The bakery chain has announced that it is shaking up its lunch menu with three new flatbreads to choose from with the the Mexican Chicken flavour already available to tuck into. Foodies can also look forward to the Chicken Shawarma Flatbread, which is due to arrive in-stores nationwide from Thursday, May 25.

That's not all either - the UK's favourite bakery chain is set to expand its ever-growing plant based menu with the Vegan Tandoori Chicken-Free Flatbread, which is also said to arrive on the menu from May 25.

Arriving in stores nationwide yesterday (May 18), the Mexican style chicken flatbread with chipotle chilli sauce is only 325 calories. It is complete with fresh salad leaves, mixed peppers and chipotle chilli mayonnaise for a full-on flavour.

The 365 calorie shawarma style chicken flatbread is street-food inspired, made with sliced cucumber and mixed salad leaves to deliver a tasty treat.

The vegan flatbread is said to contain only 382 calories and is packed full of delicious tandoori chicken-free pieces, cucumber, salad and a dollop of vegan tandoori mayonnaise and mango chutney.

It will come as an exciting new addition for vegan's to try out, after they have been trying out plant-based options of some of the chain's iconic products, such as the popular vegan sausage roll.

All of the delicious flatbreads are priced from £3.25 or £3.60 as part of the cold sandwich meal deal. They can also be ordered via Click + Collect through the Greggs App or website, and for delivery via Just Eat.

It comes just after Greggs recently revealed that its sales have grown by nearly a fifth in the past 12 months, with a 17% increase in its sales this year.

The bakery firm said that its sales had jumped due to an increase in hot and cold options on its menu for customers, with soaring demand for its hot options, such as chicken goujons and wedges.

The Mexican Chicken Flatbread is available in Greggs stores nationwide now, with the Chicken Shawarma Vegan Tandoori Chicken-Free set to arrive from Thursday, May 25.
