Greg Taylor on Celtic vs Rangers 'bittersweet' strike as Scottish Cup goal counted for nothing

Greg Taylor was left disappointed when his dream goal against Rangers at Hampden counted for nothing.

The left-back was Celtic's unlikely scorer as he broke the deadlock in Sunday's Scottish Cup semi-final.

But any hopes of being the matchwinner were tarnished as Gers fought back to book their place in May's showpiece with Hearts.

Now he has told of the "bittersweet" feeling of the afternoon and his individual strike.

Describing the euphoria of scoring in a derby game, Taylor told Celtic TV : "The feeling when I scored was like nothing I've felt in my entire life, it was unbelievable.

"It was unfortunate that we couldn't manage to get the result to top off the day.

"It was bittersweet. It was an amazing moment. It was like nothing I've ever felt in my career.

"It was a big game and a big opportunity that we unfortunately didn't manage to take.

"It did hurt for a few days but with football, you've got to move your focus to the next game.

"That's what we've done, we trained well today and we prepare for Sunday."

Callum McGregor huddled the squad at full-time as the away end of the stadium celebrated their extra-time win.

The Hoops captain delivered a passionate speech to his shattered teammates after the club's Treble dreams were left in tatters.

Taylor refused to spill the beans on exactly what was said, but did suggest the underlying message was to regain the title.

He said: "We've got five big league games to go now and we need to finish with five strong performances.

"We know what's at stake come the end of that. We understand what's needed.

"It was just about regaining focus and knowing how well we've done so far, but there's still a job on hand."
