Greg Taylor in veiled Todd Cantwell potshot as Celtic star tells Rangers new boy 'some could learn from' Hoops

Greg Taylor appeared to take a veiled pop at Todd Cantwell – saying Celtic do their talking on the pitch, and "some could learn from that".

The Rangers midfielder raised a few eyebrows after the Parkhead derby on April 8 where he claimed on social media that Celtic "didn't win it," because his team lost it. He later dialled that back a touch insisting it wasn't a dig but it meant he was always going to be in the spotlight when the two sides faced again at Hampden three weeks later.

Cantwell was back bang in the thick of things in the Cup showdown and involved in a water bottle incident with Reo Hatate while he was later embroiled in a bit of handbags with Taylor. But the Celtic left-back thought nothing of it when asked about the fracas as he said: "Yeah, he's just another opponent. Everyone tries to give their best out there. We just do our talking on the pitch and some could learn from that."

Celtic sealed the win through Jota's first-half header and it means they need just two wins to seal a Treble - one of their five remaining league games, and the Scottish Cup final against Inverness CT in June. And reflecting on the victory over Rangers, Taylor said: "I thought in the first half we had good control of the game, played our football and had a deserved lead. Then Rangers had the incentive to get the equaliser. We were under a bit of pressure but the whole team held up well and, in these cup ties, it's important to get the win and we did that.

"We've got such a strong mentality in all games because we don't treat any different. The next game's the most important regardless of the occasion, that's the philosophy the manager's brought in, we don't waste a session or a game. When it comes to these big games, it helps.

"Rangers are a good opponent, let's not be unfair. They're difficult games, you've seen how close they've been. When it comes to these games they are so difficult but we've got the same mentality for every game and I think that does help."
