Greg McElroy, David Pollack agree who has more pressure in UGA-Alabama game

Former Georgia Bulldogs defensive end David Pollack and former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Greg McElroy both agree that No. 1 Georgia has more pressure on it than No. 4 Alabama. Pollack and McElroy are both college football analysts. Pollack joined McElroy on the “Always College Football with Greg McElroy” podcast.

“I feel like Bama’s playing with house money, a bit, and all the pressure is kind of on Georgia,” said McElroy.

Alabama is breaking in a new era under first year head coach Kalen DeBoer. On the other side, Georgia is looking to continue its dominance in the SEC under Kirby Smart. However, the one team Georgia has not had success against in the SEC is Alabama.

“I think you’re right, because everybody was like it is Saban, but now it’s a new era,” said Pollack. “And it’s DeBoer and if it starts off on the wrong foot, I think Georgia fans know, like Alabama’s had their number. And the year they broke through and won a national championship when they played them they had lost to them already in the SEC championship. So they still lost to them, but I think Georgia’s going to be very interesting to me. Like their schedule sucks.”

Georgia still has to go on road against No. 2 Texas and No.  5 Ole Miss this season. The Bulldogs also host No. 6 Tennessee, which means outside of the Alabama game Georgia still faces three other top six opponents.

Contrarily, Alabama has challenging games left at No. 6 Tennessee, at No. 13 LSU and at home against No. 11 Missouri. The Crimson Tide also play at No. 18 Oklahoma. However, there’s no doubt that Georgia has a more challenging schedule. Of course, Alabama still has a lot of tough games left as well, but the Crimson Tide have a much easier path to 10 or 11 regular season wins than Georgia does.

Georgia plays at Alabama at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 28. The Georgia-Alabama game will be televised on ABC.
