Cops investigating a murder bid in Greenock are hunting around 12 males who were involved in "disorder".
Emergency crews were raced to Oxford Road at 11.20pm on Thursday, April 13. Medics attended and on arrival, a 22-year-old man was found injured.
His current condition is unknown. Officers from Police Scotland are treating the incident as attempted murder.
As part of their ongoing inquiries, they remain in the Larkfield area where the assault took place. They are currently reviewing door-to-door and CCTV inquires as they appeal to locals to come forward with any information.
Particularly, they want to hear from around 12 males who were involved in "disorder" at the time of the incident. One male is described as white and was wearing a blue hood before he fled towards Auchmead Road.
Detective Inspector Gordon Smith said: “Police remain around Oxford Road and are asking residents and visitors for any information they may have about this incident. We are still piecing together details of what took place.
“We are aware that up to a dozen males were involved in the disorder, but are particularly keen to trace one man who was seen in the area any may be able to assist with our enquiries. He is described as wearing a blue hooded top and was running on Auchmead Road.
“As ever, we rely on the assistance of our local communities and residents should have confidence that we will treat any information confidentially.”
