Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has seemingly quashed any whispers of animosity between the band and Charli xcx by sporting a green brat cap on-stage during Coachella Weekend Two.
ICYMI, California’s biggest arts and music festival, Coachella, has kicked off for Weekend Two, which means we’re getting another round of iconic music moments from the world’s biggest act.
Recently, Green Day‘s frontman (and major music zaddy) Billie Joe Armstrong has hushed any rumours of a bubbling beef with Charli xcx by wearing a brat cap during the band’s Weekend Two performance.

Rumours of a beef between the two music acts first surfaced after Charli‘s Weekend One performance. You see, shortly after Charli performed her bratlicious Coachella set, the diva rocked up to her afterparty wearing a “Miss Should Be Headliner” sash.

While most folks took it as a joke, or some kind of nod to her brat personality, some folks were offended by the accessory.
Some netizens also saw this as a dig towards Green Day, who were the headliners for both Saturdays.
green day has a career and discography worthy of a headliner spot it’s very simple. the fact that her self glazing is always paired with disrespect towards established and legendary artists is so corny https://t.co/0Gd9FQJqZI

While neither party responded to the internet buzz surrounding the controversial sash, the designer, Briah Artemis, told PAPER that it wasn’t supposed to be taken seriously.
“I never want to take myself or my pieces too seriously,” she told the publication.
Honestly, I loved how subtle Billie’s response was to all that hullabaloo surrounding a darn sash!
That being said, this isn’t the only iconic thing the frontman has done during Coachella 2025.
On Weekend One, the beloved punk band made a ‘yuge political statement by tweaking the lyrics to their 2004 single “Jesus of Suburbia” to highlight the suffering of Palestinian children.
“Runnin’ away from pain, like the kids from Palestine / Tales from another broken home,” Billie sang.
i was singing along to green day, minding my business, and i simply did not expect billie joe armstrong to tweak the last line from jesus of suburbia to mention the kids in palestine 🤍 pic.twitter.com/XAY1TVbGZ9
