Green Brigade rally Celtic fans for Bayern Munich showdown - But UEFA watches closely

Celtic’s ultras group, the Green Brigade, has prepared a major tifo display ahead of tonight’s UEFA Champions League playoff first-leg tie against Bayern Munich at Celtic Park.

With the Hoops aiming to take a crucial step towards the last-16, fans located in the North Curve have been urged to take their seats early to ensure the success of the spectacle.

A statement from the Green Brigade stressed the importance of the supporters’ role, not only in the tifo but in creating a hostile atmosphere for their German opponents.

“The entire Celtic support has a huge part to play before and during the match tonight. It is important we get behind the team from first whistle to last, whilst making it as uncomfortable and unpleasant as possible for our rivals,” the group said.

“Let’s stick with the players throughout and give them the backing they’ll need to achieve a positive result ahead of the second leg.”

There are still concerns over pyrotechnic use after Celtic escaped a ban that would’ve seen away supporters banned from attending the return leg at the Allianz Arena in Munich next week.

UEFA has repeatedly warned Celtic over the actions of certain sections of their support, with the club facing potential sanctions if flares or fireworks are used.

A ban on away fans in future European fixtures is a real possibility should UEFA deem Celtic to have breached regulations once more.

Despite this, the Green Brigade is determined to inspire the team and provide an unforgettable backdrop to what could be a historic night in Glasgow.

The message is clear; support the team with full voice, but ensure it is done within the guidelines to avoid costly repercussions for future matches.

With a raucous Celtic Park atmosphere expected, Brendan Rodgers’ side will be hoping the energy from the stands translates onto the pitch as they seek a first-leg advantage against the Bundesliga giants.

Similarly to Celtic, Bayern Munich also sit comfortably at the top of their domestic league.
