Green Brigade in strong-worded statement after Tannadice ticket price protest

The Green Brigade have released a statement following their protest in Celtic's 5-0 win over Dundee United at Tannadice yesterday.

The fanatical group of supporters launched tangerines onto the pitch in the first half before unveiling a banner that read 'Enjoy the fruits of our labour'. They then threw several footballs into the penalty area in the second 45.

Their protest was against ticket pricing and the fact that a standard adult ticket for Celtic's game against United on Saturday cost £40.

They spoke out after the match and revealed a list of total ticket costs for the 2024/25 season for the average fan to follow Celtic home and away - it came to over £1,000.

A statement read: "Celtic fans disrupted today's match in protest against the alarming pricing culture in Scottish football.

"At £40 - the away ticket price reflected a 25% (£8) increase from the same fixture on 22 Dec 2024.

"While Dundee United set today's ticket price, all clubs are responsible for this culture of greed, selfishness, and pettiness which is pricing out working people. We understand that ticket revenue is vital to Scottish football, however there must be consideration given to the supporters who remain the heart, soul and blood of our game.

"Once again, we emphasise the need for Scottish football to review its relationship with supporters. There must be a proper framework introduced to engage with supporters and protect their interests. We remain in communication with supporters' groups across Scotland on how best to achieve this.

"A comprehensive list of all Celtic FC fixtures and ticket prices for Season 24/25 follows to demonstrate the financial cost of following Celtic this season. Despite this already excessive cost, we expect further increases next season; sadly led by Celtic with an unjustifiable 5% minimum increase to Season Ticket prices for 25/26. In addition to unfair pricing, Celtic also persists with an unfair ticket allocation process with zero transparency on how tickets are allocated.

"We hope today's disruption raises questions on proportionate pricing across all clubs and on the game's relationship with its supporters.

"Finally, we ask that Dundee United donate our 40 footballs to a local kids charity."
