A woman attending a wedding with her teenage son has caused a stir online after asking if it would be possible to have his meal switched from a children's to an adult.
The mum, who is "due to fly to a family wedding later this year", was informed that her "6 foot tall" 14-year-old son would be required to choose a meal from the children's menu. She took to popular parenting forum Mumsnet to ask for help regarding the situation.
She wrote: "Due to fly to a family wedding later this year. We have been asked for meal choices, all fine so far. However my 14 year old has been asked to chose from the children’s menu. The child is 6 foot tall and eats more than your average adult.

"WWYD (What Would You Do), the wedding is remote and there is nowhere else to eat. We fly in late the night before and will have been travelling for hours and it’s an early in the day wedding so no scope to pack food.
"Due to the way the wedding packages work and alcohol being included for adults then apparently an adult meal is not an option."
Since being shared, the post has received dozens of replies. People on the forum had a range of opinions regarding the matter.
Some simply suggested possible solutions, with one writing: "Just politely reply that you are happy to pay for an adult meal minus the alcohol and with fruit juice instead."
A second commented: "I would ring Bride and Groom and ask for adult meal and offer to pay extra. Explain he is 6 foot and always hungry."
Others, however, felt the woman was in the wrong for wanting her son to have an adult meal. One wrote: "He’s not an adult, you’re being greedy".
A second suggested: "You can pack some flapjacks in your suitcase surely? He’s not going to starve. Pack a bag of crisps, flapjack and a protein bar and then give him those before the wedding.
"Or eat them yourself and give him your adults meal and you have the kids one. Come on, this is not a huge issue."
"It's one meal - share starters, etc, take snacks, he will survive," echoed a third.
Some Mumsnet users, meanwhile, felt that it was reasonable to expect a teenage boy to have access to an adult meal rather than a child-size one. One shared: "My son at 14 ate more than he now eats as an adult so I understand your issue. Could you take snacks with you?"
A second said: "Kids meals are usually for under tens. Are you sure it's a small portion? Sounds a bit odd."
A third agreed: "14 years old is too old to be offered a childrens’ menu. Maybe the hosts are not aware that it’s not enough food? I would ask for an adult meal. I wouldn't expect people to go to my wedding, particularly abroad, and not provide a reasonable meal."
"If they were going out for a family meal I'm guessing the 14 year old wouldn't eat from the children's menu so why should he have to at the wedding," argued a fourth.
