Greece will scrap passenger locator forms in a boost for Britons heading abroad for the Easter break.

From March 15, travellers will no longer need to provide a locator form in order to enter the popular tourist hotspot.

The minister for tourism announced the change.

A statement published from Vassilis Kikilias said: “On a recommendation by the Experts’ Committee of the Ministry of Health, as of March 15, 2022 the completion of the Passenger Locator Form (PLF) which was required by all visitors for entrance to Greece is repealed.

“The revocation of the PLF simplifies the entrance procedure for travellers, passing the emphasis on vaccination certificate checks.

“In addition to that, adopting new health protocols for tourism enterprises puts Greece ahead of the competition. As always, we are ready to welcome our visitors safely.”

From March 15, fully vaccinated travellers will just need to show proof of vaccination in order to enter the country.

In order to be considered fully vaccinated, however, you must have had your last jab at least 14 days before you travel but your last vaccine must not be over nine months old.

For unvaccinated travellers, you must show either proof of recovery or a negative Covid test result 72 hours before arrival.

In February, the UK scrapped the testing requirement for vaccinated Britons.

It is thought passenger locator forms may also be axed in time for the Easter break next month and they were also simplified for travellers.

Spain too has eased its travel requirements after previously only accepting fully vaccinated holidaymakers.

Under new rules, unvaccinated Britons may enter the country provided they have recovered from Covid within six months of their departure.

All Britons hoping to enter Spain, however, will need to fill out a pre-departure form and obtain a QR code which will need to be shown at the border.

Vaccinated travellers will need to show proof of vaccination which must be at least 14 days old but not more than 270 days since it was administered.
