Greece issue Scotland World Cup warning after 'easy' win at Hampden

GREECE star Giorgos Vagiannidis has warned Scotland they are only going to get better for the World Cup qualifiers.

Scotland were destroyed by the Greeks at Hampden as the visitors easily overturned their defeat last week to win 3-0 in the second leg and relegate the Scots in the Nations League.

Steve Clarke's side have to play Greece twice more this year in the World Cup qualifiers.

And Panathinaikos defender Vagiannidis reckons they will improve by then.

He said: "You can see that we are a young team. I believe we are just at the start of a great cycle for us. We are going to keep improving.

"We showed intensity from the very first minute in Glasgow and we restricted Scotland to few chances.

"Scotland are a very good side but we won that game easily.

"It was a joy playing with Konstantinos Karetsas. He's a very talented player. He understands football even though he is a young age and that shows in his movements and footwork on the pitch. He's very easy to work with."

And Greek hero Giannis Konstantelias, who scored and provided two assists, was delighted they managed to do a British double after beating England at Wembley and Scotland at Hampden.

He said: "There is something about playing on this island we like!

"I think we put in a great performance and we managed to claim a great victory.

"I believe we can achieve great things with this group of young players.

"We have a lot to look forward to - the top group in the Nations League and our aim of qualifying for the World Cup."
