This weekend's warm weather is set to continue into next week with temperatures in Greater Manchester eclipsing those in the Mediterranean. By Tuesday, it will soar to 22C and will be hotter than Portugal, weather experts predict.

Although temperatures are on the up, the Met Office warns that there could be also be a return of rain. The forecast for tomorrow (Monday May 16) reads: "Showery rain moving north through the morning, perhaps heavy and thundery in places.

"Drier for the afternoon, with sunny spells but also heavy showers developing in places. Warm and humid."
As the week goes on the rain is set to increase but the warm temperatures will stay. It continues: "Often unsettled on Tuesday and Wednesday, with heavy showers or longer periods of rain.
"Some drier brighter interludes developing, more especially by Thursday. Staying on the warm and muggy side."
Tuesday is set to be the hottest day with highs of 22C, compared to 19C in Portugal's second largest city Porto. Met Office chief meteorologist Andy Page said: “The plume of warm air we have been expecting from the south will bring higher temperatures across the whole country over the next week.
"However, it looks like the effects from the Atlantic lows will prevent sustained high pressure building from the east. This means that while we might see some warm - and in places very warm – days, overall the next week will feel more like what we would expect of a warm spell in May, with some heavy showers around, rather than hot summery weather.”
