Greater Manchester weather forecast as cold snap comes to an end

Following the cold snap which swept across England last week, many in Greater Manchester may notice temperatures start to get warmer.

However, this doesn't mean conditions overall will improve dramatically. Over the next couple of days, the region may see an end to sub-zero temperatures but it will also move away from the dry sunny conditions which brightened up most days last week.

According to the Met Office, Monday will see an average temperature of 7C with cloudy skies persisting throughout the whole day and well into the evening. As we approach the later hours of the evening at 8pm, temperatures will begin to drop to 5C and 4C respectively.

The Met Office adds for the region: "Rather cloudy for most with perhaps some patchy rain, especially across the higher ground. Southern areas though seeing occasional clearer spells, leading to a risk of a frost here. Minimum temperature 0 °C."

On Tuesday morning, temperatures will be noticeably colder, dipping to 3C before rising slightly in the afternoon to 5C and will be accompanied by overcast and cloudy skies. Temperatures will continue to remain stable until the late evening when they will dip to 4C.

However, the Met Office highlights that some parts of Greater Manchester may see some 'brighter spells'. It says: "Rather cloudy throughout the day on Tuesday, however some brighter spells are possible particularly across eastern parts of Cheshire and Greater Manchester. Maximum temperature 7 °C."

Early forecasts for the end of the week predict some rain and sunny spells. The Met Office says: "Cloudy with rain and drizzle on Wednesday. Rather chilly with overnight frosts. Slowly turning milder with temperatures near normal by Thursday with sunny spells. Cloudy with patchy drizzle on Friday."
