The are delays on the rail network in Greater Manchester this afternoon after an incident in Lancashire. Police were called to Preston station just after 2.30pm.
Currently, there are issues from Preston and Bolton to Wigan Northwestern stations. Commuters are facing delays in getting home, with the upheaval set to last until 5.45pm today (May 25).
All routes are blocked in the area, National Rail is advising, meaning scores of services are in chaos. British Transport Police officers are at the scene, a spokesperson said.

The BTP statement explained: “Officers were called to Preston station at 2.39pm following concern for a man in a precarious position. Officers are on scene working to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.”
An incident report on National Rail’s website added: “The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Preston and Bolton/Wigan North Western, meaning all lines are blocked.
“As a result, trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised. Major disruption is expected until 17:45.”
Routes affected include Avanti West Coast trains between Edinburgh/Glasgow Central/ Blackpool North and London Euston. It also affects Northern routes between Blackpool North/Windermere/Barrow-in-Furness and Manchester Airport, and between Blackburn and Preston, and between Blackpool North and Liverpool Lime Street/ Hazel Grove/York, and also between Blackpool South/Colne/Liverpool Lime Street/Ormskirk and Preston.
And TransPennine Express between Glasgow Central/Edinburgh and Manchester Airport and also between Glasgow Central and Liverpool Lime Street are hit.
