Buying a home within a reasonable budget can prove to be fairly difficult in the cost of living crisis. With house prices, energy costs and interest rates soaring, house hunters are now having to pay more for their homes than what they would usually consider to be affordable.
Across Greater Manchester the average cost of a home was recorded at £241,650 in September, according to the latest data from Rightmove. However, there are certain parts of the region where house prices are much lower than this and you can often buy a home for a bargain price.
In nine out of 10 boroughs, there are a considerable amount of areas where you can snap up a home for less than £200,000 - with house prices in some places even cheaper than £150,000.

Using Rightmove's latest average house price data, we have found the most affordable parts of Greater Manchester to buy a home where house prices fall below £200,000.
Bolton
There are four areas of Bolton where you can expect to buy a home at an affordable price.
Farnworth is the borough's cheapest area with an average house price of £152,185. This is followed by Little Lever, with homes priced at around £179,829.
Other parts of Bolton where house prices fall below £200,000 are Kearsley, with an average house price of £181,613, and Heaton, where homes cost £186,911 on average.
Bury
Bury is one of the region's more expensive boroughs to live, which is why there is just one area with an average house price that is less than £200,000.
The cheapest area of Bury is Radcliffe where properties have an average price of £187,965.
Manchester
Manchester is the region's largest borough and has several areas that are considered to be affordable.
Some of the cheapest areas, where house prices fall below £200,000 include Harpurhey ( £122,636), Newton Heath (£157,077), Belle Vue (£162,295), Gorton (£162,413) and Openshaw (£169,540).
Other parts of the borough with cheap house prices include Moston, Beswick, Bradford, Blackley, Cheetham Hill, Hulme, Moss Side, Ardwick, Longsight and Rusholme with prices ranging between £170,000 and £195,000.
Oldham
As one of the cheapest boroughs for house prices, there are four areas where you can expect to buy a property for less than £200,000.
The most affordable area is currently Hollinwood, which has an average house price of £155,159.
This is followed by Lees ( £186,041), Chadderton (£187,715) and Failsworth ( £193,361).
Rochdale
House prices in Rochdale are also considered to be fairly cheap and there are six areas where homes cost much less than the region's average house price.
Castleton is the cheapest part of the borough with an average property costing around £151,327.
Heywood, Milnrow and Newhey each have house prices within the region of £175,000 and £190,000.
Middleton h as an average house price of £193,795 and houses in Littleborough are priced around £198,866 on average.
Salford
There are just two areas of Salford where house prices fall below £200,000.
Little Hulton is the cheapest part of the borough with an average house price of £163,084.
Salford Quays is also considered to be affordable with the standard cost of a home around £190,788.
Stockport
The borough of Stockport has just one area where house prices are considered affordable.
Reddish has an average house price of £199,714 and is the cheapest part of Stockport to buy a home.
Tameside
Tameside has a few areas with house prices less than £200,000.
The cheapest part of the borough is Ashton-under-Lyne where homes cost around £177,448 on average.
Properties in Droylsden, Dukinfield and Mossley are each priced within the region of £195,000 and £200,000.
Wigan
Out of all 10 boroughs, Wigan is Greater Manchester's cheapest area to live.
There are several parts of Wigan with house prices that fall below £200,000 - with one area Ince that has prices as low as £129,202.
Other affordable areas include Pemberton, Platt Bridge, Leigh, Abram, Hindley, Ashton-in-Makerfield and Atherton where property prices range between £129,200 and £185,000.
