Greater Manchester Bank Holiday weather as rain ruins pleasant Saturday

More wet weather is forecast across the Bank Holiday weekend after the region was hit by heavy rain on Saturday.

A pleasant start to the day was pierced by torrential downpours on Saturday evening. There were wet conditions in most parts of the region from around 5pm with roads and pavements flooded.

And keep your brollies and raincoats to hand as more of the same is expected on Sunday. Aside from possible drizzle in the early hours, it is expected to be a dry if overcast start to the day across Greater Manchester.

However, from around midday, the Met Office forecasts heavy downpours with long spells of rain expected throughout the afternoon and early evening, which could scupper people's outdoor plans.

There is also the chance of some thunder.

It won't be as warm as Saturday with temperatures remaining at around 13 degrees Celcius for most of the day.

The rain isn't expected to begin to clear until around 8pm, and even then there could be some further, if lighter, showers, into the night.

Monday is expected to be a much drier day. Other than some possible light showers in the early hours, the rain is set to hold off with it being cloudy and rather mild, if chilly at times with a fresh north-westerly breeze.

However local Twitter forecaster Oldham Weather said it will be a 'little disappointing.' "Not as wet as recent days but still a few showers here and there and still mostly cloudy" he said.

Temperatures will range from nine degrees in the early hours peaking at 13C in the middle of the day.

Conditions are expected to improve into next week. Tuesday is also set to remain dry if overcast, with highs of 14C with a similar outlook on Wednesday and Thursday.
