Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce is to leave its home of 63 years after striking a deal for new office space.
The business body is set to relocate to 54 Hagley Road in Edgbaston, close to its current base in Chamber of Commerce House, Harborne Road.
The move comes less than a year after the building's owner Mercia Real Estate announced plans to refurbish Chamber of Commerce House and also build 131 new apartments on the land next door.
Birmingham-based Mercia Real Estate bought the seven-storey office block, which was designed by legendary city architect John Madin, in 2020 and struck a sale and leaseback deal with the chamber so it could remain in its historic home.
Chamber chief executive Henrietta Brealey said: "I'm delighted to announce that 54 Hagley Road has been chosen as our new premises.
"Over recent months, we have worked closely with partners and key stakeholders to identify premises which will help fulfil our ongoing mission to connect, support and grow local businesses.
"We have exchanged contracts on the new premises and will be formally completing the move to our new building by the end of the year.
"Until then, I'd like to remind our customers and those firms that use our premises services on a regular basis that Chamber of Commerce House remains our main location.
"The move is part of our ambitious three-year business plan and strategy. It is a privilege to lead this organisation, which celebrates its 210th anniversary this year, as we continually evolve and grow our work with and on behalf of the city region's business community."
Established in 1813, the chamber moved to Chamber of Commerce House in 1960 from the New Street headquarters it had occupied since 1916.
