Kevin Davis, chairman of the Ladder for Greater Birmingham initiative, said: "Life is never dull in the world of business and this year is no different.

"As we sit on the cusp of one of the world's great sporting events coming to Birmingham, it is heartening to know that apprentices are playing their part in making the Commonwealth Games a huge success.

"But the legacy of the apprenticeship community permeates much wider than this two-week sporting spectacle as major employers such as HS2 embrace the benefits of hiring and training apprentices.

"I am so glad we are once again able to recognise and celebrate those apprentices, employers and training providers who are all playing their part in making Greater Birmingham the success it is via our 2022 awards.

"The Ladder for Greater Birmingham is once again proud to partner with these awards and we look forward to reading your nominations over the coming weeks."

BirminghamLive editor Graeme Brown added: "These are exciting times to be living and working in both Birmingham and the wider West Midlands region.

"As employers look to hire the next generation of up-and-coming talent, many are turning to the apprenticeship community as a way of growing their own and ensuring staff are learning the right skills from day one.

"If last year's awards are anything to go by, then I know we will once again have a bumper crop of nominations to go through over the coming weeks. Good luck to all and get entering."

The awards are run in conjunction with the Ladder for Greater Birmingham campaign, an initiative launched in 2018 aimed at creating hundreds of new apprenticeships in Birmingham and Solihull.
