Harry Redknapp believes defender Nayef Aguerd has been a great signing for his former club West Ham United.
Redknapp’s praise comes after the Moroccan international scored his first goal in English football with the match-winner in Sunday’s crucial 1-0 victory against relegation rivals Southampton.
Aguerd’s header in the first-half secured the three points and helped lift West Ham out of the relegation zone and up to 14th in the Premier League table.

Redknapp, who made 149 league appearances for the Hammers between 1965 and 1972 before a seven-year spell as manager from 1994 to 2001, is looking forward to seeing more of the West Ham defender in action as he named the Moroccan in his Premier League team of the week.
“Nayef Aguerd has been a great bit of business for West Ham,” Redknapp told BetVictor. “This lad seems to get better each week, he’s developing into a very good centre-half. He’s strong, dominant in the air and got a great turn of pace on him. I’m looking forward to seeing more of him.”
Aguerd was named in a four-man backline that included Newcastle United duo Kieran Trippier and Dan Burn following the Magpies' 2-0 win against Manchester United on Sunday. Tyrone Mings was also selected with Aston Villa teammate Emi Martinez in goal.
In midfield, Redknapp went for Manchester City pair Jack Grealish and John Stones for their part in a 4-1 victory against Liverpool. They are joined by Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes and Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace.
Gabriel Jesus scored a brace in Arsenal’s 4-1 win versus Leeds United and the Brazilian was named up front alongside Man City’s Argentinian forward Julian Alvarez.
