Great British Menu fans can now eat Larkin Cen's 10/10 dish in Bristol

Bristol chef Larkin Cen is bringing his Blue Planet Hot Pot to the people of Bristol for a very limited number of evenings after receiving a 10/10 for the dish during his time on BBC Two show Great British Menu. Diners who book one of just 24 spots per evening at Woky Ko on Queen’s Road will be immersed in the dish’s ethos of collaboration and bringing people together, as they indulge in an intimate dining experience centred around the David Attenborough-inspired special.

The hotpot will be the main course of a tasting menu dining experience offered on selected evenings throughout July and August, prepared by Larkin Cen himself. There will also be an optional wine or beer pairing throughout the evening.

Presented on the ‘Blue Planet’ lazy Susan prop, which garnered great acclaim following Larkin’s appearance on the show, tables of six will dine together to taste the barbecued tender lamb shoulder Szechuan hotpot. Made using between 25-30 individual Chinese spices, the dish is accompanied by delicate handmade ramen noodles.

Diners will be welcomed to the upstairs dining area of the Queen’s Road Woky Ko restaurant for the hotpot event, where just four tables will be set up and prepared for the dish of the season, which encouraged Great British Menu host Andi Oliver to praise Larkin as someone who “does flavour so well.”

Tickets are £75 per person and guests can expect accompanying dishes along the lines of Scallop Wu Gok XO, Sichuan boiled fish clay pot and a cured duck egg custard bao amongst others. Customers will also have the option to enjoy their dining experience with a selection of perfectly paired wines to complement each of the seven courses at an additional cost.

Back in February 2022, an initial announcement was made, asking fans to register their interest in the Hotpot event - with hundreds responding to showcase their interest. The tasting menu will be served on selected dates throughout July and August and tickets are £75 per person from here.
