Great British Bake Off 'unveils new host' - and fans are very excited

Alison Hammond has been 'unveiled as the new host' of The Great British Bake Off, replacing Matt Lucas.

The This Morning presenter will film her first show for the popluar Channel 4 series this summer. She will be joined in the tense baking programme by Noel Fielding, when the pair will welcome 12 new bakers, according to the Mirror.

Fans have been calling for a female presenter to replace comedian, Lucas. One source told the Mirro: “Alison is a great choice. She will bring warmth and humour to the tent in spades. We’re laughing just thinking about it.”

The mum-of-one will be the first non-white host or judge in the show’s 14-year history. Viewers were very impressed with Alison, 48, during her 2020 stint on the celebrity version for Stand Up 2 Cancer.

Going up against James Blunt, Alex Jones and Joe Sugg, she told the show: “I do think that good food and good baking comes from the heart - and I’ve got a lot of heart.”

Prue admitted: “I don’t think we’ve ever met anybody with this much confidence.” And after trying her brownies, she declared: “They taste divine.”

Bristol Giuseppe Dell'Anno was crowned Bake Off winner in 2021. The dad-of-three has since gained a huge social media following, regularly sharing his delicious dishes.
