A gravestone has apparently been stolen from the grave of a girl who died tragically young in Swords.
Fran has regularly visited her baby daughter’s grave at St Colmcilles Graveyard for the past 33 years. But earlier this month, the now 66-year-old woman went to visit baby Michelle for Christmas - and came to the shocking discovery that the beautiful angel headstone that had been commissioned for her newborn had been nicked.
After talking to another girl that had a grave a bit further down from theirs, Fran realised it had been gone for at least three weeks. The mother-of-four said: "We as a family find this very upsetting and distressing and can't understand how this could happen, or who would do such a thing.”

“It has broken all our hearts, and we are just trying to get some answers.”
Fran says the despicable thief has not yet been found. “Not a sound, not a word, not any of that,” she added. “It’s just who, who would do that?”
Fran says the family will probably get a new headstone to mark Michelle’s grave. "I can’t see us getting that one back," she said.
