Crisis accommodation will be set up at a veterans retreat in northeast Victoria as part of grants funding blitz unveiled ahead of Anzac Day.
Fifty projects designed to improve the lives of veterans and honour their sacrifices will share in $1.1 million of grants, the Victorian government announced on Friday.
Goorambat Veterans' Retreat, near Wangaratta, will receive a $50,000 grant to refurbish an old school building to create crisis accommodation for veterans and their families suffering financial hardship.
An exhibition at Melbourne's Shrine of Remembrance exploring children's experiences of war through a popular culture lens, and restoration works at the Oakleigh cenotaph have also been allocated funding through separate schemes.
Ahead of the return of full Anzac Day services after two COVID-disrupted years, Victorian Veterans Minister Shaun Leane said the grants would provide more post-service assistance.
"These grants support local communities to remember and honour the service of our veterans," he said.
