Granit Xhaka drops clearest Arsenal transfer hint yet as midfield star 'leaks' Bayer Leverkusen move

Arsenal star Granit Xhaka appears to have all but confirmed his transfer away from the club this summer after bowing out against Wolves on Sunday. The Gunners thrashed the Midlands club 5-0 at the Emirates Stadium, drawing the curtain on the 2022/23 Premier League season.

Xhaka was the star of the show, both on and off the pitch as he grabbed a brace inside 15 minutes to get the show underway. With rumours surrounding his future at the north London outfit, fans made sure their appreciation was felt as they continued to chant the midfielder's name throughout.

"Well deserved. He’s had an incredible season," Mikel Arteta said of the atmosphere for the 30-year-old in the post-match press conference. "I think one year back I spoke to him and I told him ‘there’s a question mark on you, you have to deliver more, you have to be better, I’m going to challenge you to play here.’

"He went back and I think he started to train the next day. He came back in preseason four kilos less, fit, with this face *screws his face to show focus* and really willing to do it. He’s been exceptional. He’s been a key part of the team, the success of the team and I’m so happy everybody is appreciating what he’s done."

The rumours surrounding his exit continues to ramp up, with Bayer Leverkusen heavily linked as his next destination, having previously hinted at his decision. However, this time, he appears to have made it as clear cut as possible that the next step will not be with Arsenal.

Xhaka posted on his Instagram story a post from PumaFootball, which reads: "Two goals for the goodbye", seemingly reinforcing that message. It remains to be seen when there will be an announcement, but it all but confirms that the transfer exit is imminent.
