Grandad's sentimental item stolen as man threatened 'with weapon'

A man was robbed of his grandad's "sentimental" item during an incident in Toxteth.

The victim was carrying a synthesizer inside a case at the junction of Pickwick Street and Dickens Street when he was approached by two men. The suspects indicated they had a weapon and demanded the victim handed over the case.

They then walked off along Dickens Street towards Northumberland Street. No injuries were reported but police have reported that the victim was very shaken by the incident.

Detective Inspector Katie Coote said: "This was a very distressing incident for the victim to experience. I urge anyone who was in the vicinity at that time and may have noticed something suspicious to please contact us so we can bring the offenders to justice.

"The stolen synthesizer was a ‘Prophet-5’ which is of sentimental value as it had originally belonged to the victim’s grandfather. I would urge anyone who may see the synthesizer for sale to please contact us.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident or with any information can contact us by DM via our social media desk on Twitter @MerPolCC or Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ with reference 23000247713. You can also contact the independent charity Crime stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
