Footage of the next game in the Grand Theft Auto franchise has surfaced online. A user has posted the clips on the GTA forums.
The forum member, Teapotuberhacker, is alleging to have acquired 90 seconds of GTA 6 and published the video online. The post read: "Hi, here are 90 footage/clips from GTA 6. It's possible I could leak more data soon, GTA 5 and 6 source code and assets, GTA 6 testing build."
Teapotuberhacker then posted a zip file on the forums which users can download. The file has proved so popular that the site's server has been overloaded due to the number of people trying to download it at the same time.
Those who try are met with a message that reads: "This server is currently overloaded, so the file cannot be downloaded at this time. Please come back later or upgrade your account to get priority."
The source of the videos has not been confirmed. It is thought that Teapotuberhacker could have hacked the developer's internal Slack channel.
Rockstar, the game's developer is famously secretive about its ongoing projects. Grand Theft Auto 5 was released in 2013 but Rockstar has long focused its efforts on the game's online mode and has released few details about the game's sequel.
The leaked clips suggest that a number of rumours around GTA 6 are true. These are that the game will return to its setting of Vice City and that players will be able to play as a male or female character.
