Grand National 2023: Coleen Rooney's Aintree outfits through the years

Coleen Rooney is the unofficial Queen of Aintree, having attended almost every Grand National since 2006.

She often visits all three days, with the Grand National weekend usually taking place near her birthday. When she arrives at the world-famous racecourse, the first thing people want to see is what she's wearing.

One of Coleen’s first high profile appearances was way back in 2006 - when she was known by her maiden name, Coleen McLoughlin. In pictures retrieved from the ECHO’s archives, the burgeoning fashion lover can be seen showing off some serious bling in the form of her engagement ring during an outing to Aintree Racecourse.

In the years that followed, Coleen stunned crowds with a number of outfit changes over the course of the festivals. In 2007, she presented the winner of the Style Competition with their prize - who turned out to be an old school friend, though Coleen didn't judge the contest.

The following year, she presented one lucky winner with a Citroen car and a 10-day Caribbean holiday in the Ladies' Day style competition. She appeared alongside Sheree Murphy, who was one of the judges.

In 2009, Coleen attended her first Grand National as a married woman, and she was also newly pregnant with baby Kai. The following year, a five-month-old Kai made his first trip to Aintree alongside his mum.

Coleen's outfits have become iconic over the years. In 2012, Philip Armstrong, who, with his partner, Tony Burke, dressed WAGS including Coleen and Danielle Lloyd, said: “Coleen is a massive supporter of our brand. She is a dream to dress and she has her own sense of style. To work with someone like that is very exciting."

In 15 years, Coleen has missed the Grand National just four times. Over the years, bookies have even taken bets on what colour/s she would wear to the event.

In 2018, Coleen had the last laugh as people suggested she had suffered a "fake tan fail". She arrived at Liverpool’s Aintree Racecourse on the Saturday, showing her impressive post-baby body in a stunning black dress which boasted a plunging neckline and raised hem.

But the fashion police were quick to point out an apparent gap in her “fake” tan - on her feet. But the mum of four was a step ahead of her detractors, and had the perfect response - confirming the tan wasn’t fake at all.

Tweeting after the races had finished, she replied to the Daily Record, who’d run a story complimenting Coleen on her Aintree outfit but pointing out the apparent tan problem: “Sorry no fake tan on me!!! “Must have had my shoes on in Dubai... All real”.

She was joined at the races by son Kai in a dapper blue suit as she enjoyed the final day of the Grand National in glorious sunshine, fresh from her own sunshine break to Dubai. Coleen mixed with family and friends while husband Wayne was in action for Everton, playing in his team’s 1-1 draw away at Swansea.
