Grand Designs fans baffled over 'silly' and 'impractical' element of new build home

Grand Designs: The Streets viewers have many complaints about the newest episode, with several viewers pointing out how bad the new build was.

The spin-off series of Grand Designs sees Kevin McCloud follow a selection households as they embark on a quest to re-construct their own homes and all on a budget.

The programme depicts Britain's biggest self-build project as brand-new streets are created across the nation.

While the Channel 4 programme is hugely popular among viewers, several complaints were made about the second episode of third instalment as eagle-eyed fans of the show found fault with the way in which new houses are built.

The episode in question saw father-and-son team Michael and Tim build a daring home full of curves at Graven Hill.

Taking to Twitter to share their reactions after host Kevin McCloud introduced the properties, viewers shared their brutal reactions.

While some Channel 4 viewers slammed the prices of the new builds, others hit out at the interiors.

"A relentless parade of cuboids placed at jaunty angles to another. #GrandDesigns," one unimpressed viewer shared.

'Oopsie, car lift doesn't fit in the hole. Looks like some grinding will need to be done on the concrete. #GrandDesignsStreets #GrandDesigns," another echoed.

"These houses are chronic. Plain and simple," someone else complained.

While a fourth voiced: "Hmm, not sure about the bathroom, too much of one colour / tiles."

"Sorry but these are some of the ugliest houses I've seen. And I've seen a lot of kips in my time," someone else quipped.

"House looks reasonable, but the polystyrene / concrete system has been tries before on Grand Designs, and it has had lots of problems," another Channel 4 viewer tweeted.

Grand Designs: The Streets continues on Channel 4 on Tuesday 30 May at 9pm.
