Gran's 'crazy 24 hours' after hilarious Karen's Diner video goes viral

The daughter of the 73-year-old grandma who went viral after her brilliant reaction to the deliberately rude staff at Prestwich restaurant Karen's Diner has spoken about her "crazy 24 hours".

Jo Billington-Game took her unwitting mum Barbara to the venue which prides itself on "top scran" and "s**** service" and the pensioner was visibly gobsmacked and incredulously questioned: "Bloody hell, who booked this?".

Jo captured the hilarious moment on video and uploaded it to her TikTok account, which had around 180 followers prior to the clip going live on Sunday (October 16). It has since been watched more than 20 million times and her followers have shot up to 24,800. Karen's Diner has even shared the video on its own Twitter page, alongside the caption 'When you take your Granny to Karen’s Diner'

"It’s been a crazy 24 hours," Jo told the Manchester Evening News yesterday afternoon. "Mum's absolutely flabbergasted but she's pleased with all the nice comments. In the main, everyone has been lovely."

Despite Barbara's initial horror, Jo uploaded more clips from throughout the meal, which shows her mum joining in with the insults and banter once she realised what the concept of the restaurant was. "We just had so much fun and they were so good with her," Jo added.

"She doesn’t really like people who are quite abrupt but she was getting involved as well and she loved it. She has such a great sense of humour."

M.E.N contacted Karen's Diner for comment.
