The biggest night in music is returning after a long wait.

After being delayed in late January due to Covid safety measures, the awards show is set to return this weekend.

Changes have been made to the previously critiqued nomination process for a fairer and more diverse vote, following the Weeknd’s snub last year.

Here’s everything you need to know about the 64th Grammy Awards 2022:

When are the Grammy Awards 2022?

An original date of January 31 was postponed due to fears surrounding the ongoing pandemic.

The music award show is taking place on Sunday, 3 April. To watch the biggest night of music, viewers can tune in at 8pm EDT (1am BST).

How to watch the Grammy Awards?

In the US, the awards night is broadcast live on CBS from LA’s Staples Center.

Previously 4music has aired highlights from the night in the days following, but no UK channel has announced plans to air the live ceremony.

What changes have been made in 2022?

The Recording Academy have embraced a more democratic nomination process – scrapping the Nominations Review Committee, an anonymous group of “experts”.

Members of the Academy have also been diversified in a push to include 2,500 women Academy members by 2025.

What new categories are there?

Two new divisions have been added to the categories this year: Best Global Music Performance and Best Música Urbana Album.

Artists up for these categories include global stars Bad Bunny, Kali Uchis, Arooj Aftab and Burna Boy – among other first-time nominees.

Who are the nominees?

Jon Batiste sweeps the board with 11 nominations, while Doja Cat, Justin Bieber and H.E.R follow with eight each.

Pop sensations Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish both hold seven nominations this year.

BTS continue to set records as the first K-pop act to join the Record of the Year shortlist, with Butter.

ABBA have joined the history books with their first ever nomination too, for Record of the Year with I Still Have Faith In You.

Who will host?

Trevor Noah will return to the stage as the host of the 64th Grammy Awards with his sharp wit.

Performances from Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak, as Silk Sonic, will join his opening followed by performances from Carrie Underwood, John Legend, J Balvin with Maria Becerra, Jon Batiste, HER,  Chris Stapleton, Nas, Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, Brandi Carlile, BTS, Olivia Rodrigo, and Brothers Osborne.

A host of musical stars will pay tribute to the late Stephen Sondheim with a performance. Rachel Zegler, Cynthia Erivo, Ben Platt, Leslie Odom Jr. will perform in memory of the iconic theatre composer.
