Grammy Awards Host Trevor Noah Excited for Live Performances

FILE - Trevor Noah appears at the 63rd annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on March 14, 2021. Noah will host the 66th annual Grammy Awards, Sunday, February 4 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. (

Trevor Noah, best known for his tenure as the host of Comedy Central's 'The Daily Show,' is gearing up for one of the most nerve-wracking moments of his career – hosting the Grammy Awards for the fourth consecutive year. In an exclusive interview with The Associated Press, Noah expressed both excitement and anticipation for the upcoming telecast taking place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and airing on CBS and Paramount+.

The 2024 Grammy Awards promises to be an incredible night filled with live performances by some of the industry's biggest names. Artists with a leading nine nominations, such as SZA, are expected to take the stage, and Noah is particularly looking forward to witnessing the talents of Burna Boy, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, and Travis Scott.

Noah emphasizes his admiration for artists who excel in delivering powerful live performances. He believes Burna Boy possesses an innate understanding of how to transform live energy into a unique moment in time. Billie Eilish's performances leave a lasting impression, akin to watching a scene from a classic film, as they are thought-out and beautiful. Noah lauds Dua Lipa as one of the best pop performers of their generation, while also anticipating that Travis Scott will deliver an avant-garde and unpredictable performance.

Aside from his hosting duties, Noah is also nominated for a Grammy himself. His comedy album, 'I Wish You Would,' is up against notable contenders like Wanda Sykes, Chris Rock, Sarah Silverman, and Dave Chappelle. In good humor, Noah mentions that he has thoroughly reviewed the Grammy bylaws and found no indication that being the host offers any advantage in winning the award. He jokingly predicts that Chappelle, a perennial favorite, is likely to take home the prize.

Noah, who recently won an Emmy Award for Best Talk Series for the final season of 'The Daily Show,' expresses positivity and a sense of detachment towards potential Grammy losses. He explains that one cannot lose something they never had and affirms that he has never won a Grammy. However, his dynamic and charismatic persona as a host has earned him praise from Harvey Mason Jr., president and CEO of the Recording Academy. Mason considers Noah a total professional and appreciates his ability to connect with both artists and the music community.

In his post-'The Daily Show' life, Noah remains busy. Alongside his hosting duties, he also hosts the interview podcast, 'What Now? with Trevor Noah,' which attracts high-profile guests such as Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Bill Gates, Kerry Washington, and DaBaby. Noah aims to create a platform where honest and open conversations can take place, fostering compassion amongst individuals in a world that often feels lacking in empathy.

With Noah at the helm, the Grammy Awards promise an evening filled with spectacular performances and Noah's signature wit and charm. The fourth consecutive year of hosting the prestigious awards ceremony is bound to provide new highlights and memorable moments for the comedian, as well as the millions of viewers tuning in worldwide.
