Graham Potter reveals major reason why Mykhailo Mudryk will 'get better and better' at Chelsea

Graham Potter issued a glowing review of Mykhailo Mudryk following Chelsea's win over Leicester City. After several games out of the limelight, the 22-year-old impressed at the King Power Stadium and marked his return with an assist.

Mudryk was a constant threat to the Foxes' backline, operating in a more central role compared to his previous appearances where he's looked to hug the left-wing. The Ukraine international relished his opportunity in the side and he almost scored had the fine margins of Brendan Rodgers' offside trap not caught him red-handed.

But, Mudryk had his moment later in the tie when he teed up Mateo Kovacic, who secured all three points for the Blues. Speaking in the post-match press conference, Potter tipped the youngster to get even better and revealed why he'll be a huge success.

"He'll get better and better," the Chelsea boss said. "He's a young player that hasn't that much experience, so each game he'll get better and better.

"His attitude is fantastic, he wants to help the team and work with the team. I'm delighted he got an assist and helped us."

Ahead of the Leicester clash, Potter explained his plan for Mudryk, who arrived in January short of fitness. The 47-year-old said: "Of course, every player wants to play and it's important that players play to improve, I think that's a fact.

"But at the same time, it's not a straight road, it's not just a play and everything happens in a linear way. Sometimes you have to take a step away. Sometimes you just need a bit of training time. Sometimes you need a breather. So there are a lot of factors.

"Hopefully, he can benefit from the time he's had. And again, it's not easy for him to just arrive in the middle of what was pre-season for him and to come into a new country, new club, new league, and just hit his absolute maximum level. It is regardless of the fee; I know people will look at the fee but it doesn’t change the situation he is in

"We're positive about him. We're positive about the future for him. But we need just to help them settle and help him understand what he needs to do to help us."

Despite a small sample size, Mudryk appears to have responded fantastically to Potter's man-management. The Chelsea boss will be delighted with the progress the winger - and the rest of his squad - has made.
