Chelsea registered a huge 2-0 win over AC Milan at the San Siro on Tuesday night, jumping to top of their Champions League group with victory. While many stars impressed on the night, few had quite the impact that midfielder Mason Mount had on the game in just 45 minutes of action.
The academy graduate put another two assists to his name in the match, taking his tally across all competitions to five in 12 games played so far. The first saw him spin former teammate Fikayo Tomori, attempting to stay on his feet to get a shot away before it was pulled back for a penalty and a controversial red card.
The midfielder than claimed a second assist as he played through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who smashed the ball home to double the lead. Despite being substituted at half-time, Mount still managed to claim the Player of the Match award, showing his impact on the side.

Discussing his substitution and the performance after, head coach Graham Potter said: "He was on a yellow card and he's played a lot of football so at half-time we gave him a breather. He was fantastic. He was a constant threat. I've been really pleased with him from the start. He's a really important player."
It's no coincidence that Mount looks set to be a mainstay for a fourth manager he has played under, with his versatility and game intelligence playing a huge role within that. Potter's systems have always worked around exploiting the opposition and in the 23-year-old he has a figurative swiss army knife - with his ability to play deeper, on the wing or as a ten.
While Mount has always provided value on the pitch, his end product has been something of a concern when compared to others that are touted with playing the same role. While he has never purely been a creator or a finisher, adding that side to his game could elevate it.
That is what he has displayed as of late, an ability to take a game by the scruff of the neck and make it his, a trait often associated with the very best. He could become just that under Potter and he seems unlikely to slow down, claiming: "Not too much has changed, I'm just trying to get in the box and connect midfield to the strikers and be free. It's been happening for me in the last couple of games – I want more."
