Chelsea star Armando Broja appears to be stepping up his recovery from a severe knee injury that has ruled the striker out for the rest of the season. The Cobham academy graduate has featured for the first team this campaign, but a challenge in a friendly with Aston Villa in December meant many were fearing the worst.
It was later revealed that the youngster had torn the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in his knee which can leave a player out of action for at least six months all the way up to a full year depending on the recovery. It came as a huge blow in his first full season playing for the Blues at senior level.
"It was just an unfortunate action," Manager Graham Potter said after the clash in December. "He got caught up with their player and the ground. It doesn’t look positive at the moment but it’s too early to say. Fingers crossed but it is an awkward one."

The ACL tear is one of the more common severe injuries found in football that can ruin seasons and has potential knock-on effects on those who suffer from it. Broja showed positive signs of recovery when he posted an update from the gym at Cobham last week, suggesting he was ramping up his recovery.
Another post from Chelsea has gone one step further, showing the striker in individual training and showing his rehabilitation is moving along. The caption reads: "Hard at work! Keep at it, @armando.broja!"
It remains to be seen where in the plans Broja may fit during the summer when the transfer window opens again, but the recovery process shown is positive and getting a promising young player on the pitch again can only be a boost to Potter and the rest of the football club.
