Graham Potter gives honest verdict on Joao Felix red card in Chelsea defeat to Fulham

Graham Potter has described Joao Felix's red card against Fulham as another blow for Chelsea after a promising debut from the Atletico Madrid loanee.

The 23-year-old looks set to miss the Blues' next three matches after his studs up challenge on Kenny Tete in the second period of Chelsea's draw with Fulham, when the scores were still level. He will matches against Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Fulham in the Premier League if the challenge is deemed as violent conduct.

Potter was not too harsh on his player however and does not believe there was any intention in the reckless challenge. The Blues boss did acknowledge that he felt for supporters however.

Potter said: "It was a reaction from the side and it was a forward's tackle. There was no malice. I understand the sending off. It is another blow. I thought he was good, you could see his quality in the game, so it is double disappointment for us.

"It is tough. I feel for the supporters, players and everybody connected with the club. There were some positives there, couple of decent chances for us.

"We will keep working, there is no other solution. We will stay together, stay focused and move to the next match to try and get the three point."
