Graham Potter drops Thiago Silva Chelsea hint ahead of Brentford amid injury concerns

Graham Potter has said that Chelsea's injury situation remains unchanged following the weekend, with Thiago Silva deemed fit after concerns were raised over the weekend. Though he does not sound certain to be involved against the Bees.

Following Saturday's win over Aston Villa Potter revealed that Silva had suffered some tightness in his hamstring which would need to be monitored. However, managing the 38-year-old's ability to recover between games does seem to be at the forefront of the Blues boss' mind.

The Brazilian international has completed 90 minutes in each of Chelsea's matches outside of missing out on the squads for Dinamo Zagreb and Wolves. He was unavailable for the latter as he recovered from a heavy cold, while Thomas Tuchel opted to rest Silva for the former to alleviate his need to travel.

The intensity of the current schedule clearly comes under consideration when selecting a team, with Chelsea still having eight matches to play in the next 25 days.

Potter said: "Yeah, obviously 24-48 we need to make sure the recovery is right for him but no problems injury-wise it's just the recoveries."

The Chelsea head coach will involve Silva in any decision made ahead of Brentford however.

He added: "I have to involve him in the conversations because he's 38 years old, he's a man and knows himself better than I do and he's a really important person, really important player for us. We have to manage him correctly and he has to be involved in that process."

Reece James and N'Golo Kante remain out of the trip across west London. James was revealed to be in a brace for the next four weeks with an eight-week absence, while Kante met with consultant over the weekend to better assess his situation.
