Graham Potter 'blames' major Chelsea problem on Todd Boehly amid growing sacking calls

Chelsea manager Graham Potter faces an uphill task to keep his job as head coach amid a baron run of form for the west London outfit. The Blues have just two wins in 15 matches, leaving the side in mid-table and walking towards a season that will fizzle out in the final few months.

The latest defeat came at the hands of London rivals Tottenham this weekend as the Lilywhites took control of the game thanks to a long-range effort from Oliver Skipp and a calm finish from Harry Kane from a corner. It has only created growing dissent from supporters over the current management staff.

Potter knows he is in a tough situation, but insists his focus is on the next clash against Leeds, telling the media: "I can’t necessarily think too much 40,000 or 50,000 people. I need to focus on what I can control, which is the next day and the next training session. Our supporters have been very fair and I have supported the team. I’ve no complaints with the supporters. They are entitled to be frustrated, upset and angry with the results we’ve got and that is my responsibility. So I have no complaints with the supporters.”

While there are concerns over the performance and direction of the club, that's not to say every issue is solely down to the new manager. Results were a concern under Thomas Tuchel at the early stages of this season, while questions have been asked on the new recruitment style of the ownership.

The last part in particular has caught the headlines, with the Boehly-Clearlake regime already spending over half a billion pounds on transfers since taking over last year. It's a huge amount with a large squad turnover, leaving Potter with over 30 senior professionals to manage and coach.

According to Daily Mail, that has started to become a problem, with the report claiming that the size of the current squad at his disposal is impacting his training sessions and "undermining" his work. Given that it was a key plan set out by Todd Boehly, it suggests a potential issue for the manager to solve.

With a tough task of turning things around, stability on and off the pitch may be the most important things for Potter to grasp at this stage. Only wins will take the pressure off at this point though, with some key clashes on the horizon.
