Graffiti sprayed outside Goodison Park as Vitor Pereira 'set to be' next Everton manager

Everton supporters have been reacting to reports of Vitor Pereira edging closer to becoming the club's next permanent manager.

And sections of the fanbase have expressed their displeasure at the unfolding situation.

As well as banners being placed outside the Liver Building yesterday evening as part of the #27yearscampaign, graffiti reading 'Pereira out, Lampard in' was sprayed outside Goodison Park.

Reports emerged last night that the Portuguese coach is now 'expected to be appointed' by the Blues after positive talks were held, with only 'a late U-turn' preventing a deal from being agreed.

The reaction from many Blues has not been positive, with this potential appointment viewed as another risk by Fahrad Moshiri on the back of Rafa Benitez's ill-fated tenure.

Pereira's previous job in football management came at Turkish side Fenerbahce, where he was sacked after five months in charge due to poor results.

He has gained further experience at the likes of Porto and Olympiacos, where he won league titles, but has failed to hold down positions for a sustained period of time.

His longest spell at a club was with Shanghai SIPG, having served as head coach between 2017 and 2020. The vast majority of his various tenures have lasted fewer than 18 months.

The most significant drawback on his CV for many supporters, however, is the lack of Premier League experience Pereira possesses.

If appointed by the Blues, this would represent a first taste of coaching in the English top-flight for the 53-year-old.
