Graeme Souness makes major Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe claim ahead of England vs France

England face their biggest test at the World Cup so far as they take on reigning world champions France. The Three Lions are unbeaten in the tournament so far and will hope they can beat Les Bleus to set up a semi-final clash against Morocco.

Argentina and Croatia have already secured their place in the final four after beating Brazil and the Netherlands in their respective last eight ties. Morocco completed a shock win against Portugal earlier this evening as Cristiano Ronaldo left the pitch in tears after the final whistle.

Gareth Southgate has taken England to a semi-final and final in their last two major international tournaments. There has been plenty of talk about the threat of World Cup top scorer Kylian Mbappe before the clash but Harry Kane could prove to be the difference maker for the Three Lions.

Graeme Souness believes if Kane performs well for England against France in their World Cup quarter-final clash, then the Three Lions are favourites to progress into the semi-finals to face Morocco. Speaking to ITV ahead of the clash, Souness said: "I think Harry Kane has to turn up sooner or later, if he turns up tonight I make them slight favourites.

"I’d forgot about Harry, one goal so far this tournament… he’s not been himself. They’ll be encouraged from the result tonight because they will think like Croatia and Argentina that they can beat Morocco if they get up against them.

"For England tonight it’s a 50/50. Obviously Mbappe but they have threats from other areas. I think England are in great shape for this game."

Kane scored his first goal of the tournament in the 3-0 win against Senegal with Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka also impressing in their last 16 tie. France beat Poland in their round of 16 clash and will be hoping they can retain their crown by lifting the World Cup for a third time this year.
