Graeme Souness makes Harry Kane transfer prediction amid Manchester United and Man City links

Graeme Souness has urged Manchester United and Manchester City to make their move for Harry Kane before his current club Tottenham improve further under Antonio Conte.

The 28-year-old was priced out of a big-money move to the Etihad Stadium last summer after Tottenham dug their heels in over a valuation. Moving forward, City are among the favourites to sign Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland. If they are able to get that deal across the line, Kane might have to assess other options.

Among them are United - despite question marks over their top-four credentials - while Tottenham have improved and could become a force under Conte. That's according to Sky Sports pundit Souness as he offers up his prediction on what might happen with the England captain.

Souness said: "If I'm Harry, I'd be saying to the manager 'have you got money to spend? You will make this current group better'. The manager isn't going to hang around here if he hasn't got the money to spend. The manager wants to be winning trophies, league titles, the Champions League, not settling for fifth or sixth.

"We don't know what Harry and the club have agreed. Harry will be facing a dilemma at the end of the season - as Tottenham are working under a good coach and will improve. If they get the right backing they'll be a real strength going forward."

Souness added: "He's won nothing yet. It's okay having all these records and that, but you still want to show your grandkids your medals. Right now, he can't do that. The dilemma for him moving forward is does he stay or does he go? I don't have a crystal ball and we don't know what's been agreed between them [Kane and Daniel Levy].

"Have they said you can go for X amount? If that's the case I think City will still be around, knowing Tottenham will get better under this manager."
