Graeme Souness compares Tottenham star Dejan Kulusevski to Kevin De Bruyne after Southampton thrashing

Graeme Souness believes there are shades of Kevin De Bruyne in Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski.

The 22-year-old has had a stunning impact since arriving at Spurs towards the end of the January transfer window, scoring 6 goals and registering 9 assists in 21 appearances following his loan move from Juventus.

Even with the £60m arrival of Richarlison, the Sweden international looks set for another key role this season, with Antonio Conte talking up his chances of becoming one of the world’s leading players should he remain focused.

In fine form during Spurs’ 4-1 win over Southampton as Conte’s side got their Premier League campaign off to a flying start, Kulusevski scored one and set-up another as the team romped to victory without either of Harry Kane or Heung-min Son getting on the scoresheet.

With so much time to develop ahead, it seems a long time ago now that eyebrows were raised when Fabio Paratici raided his former club for both Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur towards the end of what had become a fairly desperate transfer window earlier this year.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Souness said: “Kulusevski, I think, watch him. I think he’s De Bruyne-esque if you like, and he’s 22 years old.”
