Graeme Shinnie Aberdeen red card appeal dismissed as midfielder ban increased to 4 games after Ross County clash

Graeme Shinnie has had his red card for a challenge on Ross County's Jack Baldwin dismissed and his suspension increased to 4 games after an appeal to the SFA by Aberdeen proved unsuccessful.

Debate has raged since the incident at the end of a sixth straight Premiership win for Barry Robson's side after the midfielder launched into the fiery tackle. VAR deemed it worthy of a red for the Wigan loanee who after avoiding dismissals throughout his entire career, now has two in as many games.

Robson was unhappy with the decision and Aberdeen followed suit by appealing the call, and the SFA have opted to stand by the sending off. It means Shinnie won't be available for this weekend's match with Rangers or their next three post-split games as the Dons look to cement their grip on third place, due to his previous dismissal. The outcome description on the SFA's appeal section reads: "Claim Dismissed. A1 – Serious Foul Play; the original three game suspension is re-imposed with immediate effect.

"Please note, an additional 1 game suspension was been added related to article 13.21.8 of the Judicial Panel Protocol. Fee forfeited to be paid within 30 days."
