The NFL’s legal negotiating window opened Monday and Ryan Poles and the Bears wasted little time in making their first signing.
The team agreed to a three-year, $40.5 million deal with former Bengals defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi. The 27-year old was drafted by the Browns in 2017 and moved downstate last offseason, signing with the Bengals on a one-year deal. He’s coming off a career year in his lone season with the AFC champion Bengals and now comes over to Chicago to shore up the middle of their defensive line.
The news of Ogunjobi’s signing drew mixed reactions from fans across social media. Some loved the move to bring in an athletic defensive tackle while others questioned the amount of money being spent at a position that isn’t on offense.
It’s almost impossible to offer a fair grade on the Ogunjobi signing given he hasn’t even played a down yet and the Bears still have plenty of moves to make. But here’s our initial evaluation on Poles’ first addition to the roster.
