BJP State president Somu Veerraju sought to know the reasons for handing over the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah Thermal Power Station (SDSTPS) at Krishnapatnam in Nellore district and insisted that it could be turned around by taking proper policy decisions.
He blamed the disruptions in coal supply and certain other factors for the purported failure of the SDSTPS to meet the operational parameters and held the State government responsible for it.
Participating in the protests organised by the employees of the SDSTPS against its privatisation on Monday, Mr. Veerraju said the losses being incurred by dairies and cooperative sugar factories were due to the State government’s ineptitude and promised to stand by the employees in their agitation against the privatisation move.
He said the fall in power generation at SDSTPS was also because of the government’s failure to handle the situation in the manner it should have been. He demanded that an inquiry should be done by the Vigilance and Enforcement Department into the coal linkage and other issues.
