At a recent fundraiser in Massachusetts, California Governor Gavin Newsom emphasized the significant role immigrants play in the state's startup ecosystem:

"Fourty-two per cent of all startups in California are based by immigrants, and they're the lifeblood of our state. Amid the vitriol, xenophobia, and nativism that permeates a lot of our politics, notably from figures like Donald Trump, we in California have endured and emerged stronger."

Newsom, a senior Democratic Party leader, added that the state "rejoices" in its variety rather than merely tolerating it and that, because of this, it leads in "manufacturing, boasts the very best variety of scientists, researchers, and Nobel laureates, and proceed sto drive innovation globally."

The fundraiser was hosted by US India Security Council president, Ramesh Viswanath Kapur and his wife Susan at their home in Winchester on July 8. It was attended by eminent Indian Americans from in and around Boston. Kapur expressed gratitude to Newsom for vetoing the proposed SB 403 bill, which aimed to ban caste discrimination.

The room, filled with Indian-origin attendees, entrepreneurs, and young individuals, erupted in applause, recognizing Newsom's steadfast support for entrepreneurial initiatives and principled stance on critical issues.

Newsom also highlighted the unique strengths of Massachusetts, where renowned institutions of higher learning serve as conveyor belts for talent, fostering competition not only based on cost but also on expertise.

Newsom has become an important figure for the Biden campaign as of late as the embattled president dispatched the governor to New Hampshire to help rescue his flailing campaign. "I decided instead of just rolling over and giving up, that I would step up and pick up the fight," Newsom told reporters at a highway rest stop in his first public appearance in the state as an elected official. "He's going to be our nominee," he said of Biden.
