State officials have good news when it comes to COVID-19 in the commonwealth. Only four counties are listed in the red for high community levels. Those are Letcher, Floyd, Magoffin, and Johnson counties, all in eastern Kentucky.
During last week’s Team Kentucky update, Governor Beshear said he is pleased with the numbers he is seeing. He reminded Kentuckians of the importance of getting the new COVID-19 booster as the holidays approach.
“People get out there and get your booster especially before Thanksgiving. You’re going to get together we never want the holidays to make people sick. New Omicron booster not only works against what we’re seeing right now but the concerns about the new Omicron variant that is hitting other countries.”
He said advancements in vaccines and treatments are a big part of the reduction.
“Treatments, that if you get on them early, you can not end up in the hospital and the fact that if you have been both vaccinated and boosted and especially got the new Omicron booster, your odds of going to the hospital are incredibly, incredibly low.”
The governor is still urging people to get their COVID boosters. While the numbers have leveled off or decreased for seven straight weeks, there are still some concerns about the upcoming holiday season.
