The Government will consider a proposal to lease the Citywest Hotel in Dublin for two years to accommodate refugees from Ukraine.
The hotel is currently accommodating around 2,300 Ukrainians who have fled the war in their home country, according to RTE.
The owner of the facility, Tetrarch Capital, is understood to be in discussions with the Government about a long-term lease arrangement that could last two years.
The hotel has 757 rooms with 300 people also being housed in the conference facility.
It comes as Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys is expected to seek approval for Cabinet for a €10.5m funding package to support the community response for people arriving from Ukraine.
The minister is expected to tell Cabinet colleagues that while communities are playing a central role in helping those fleeing the war additional funding is now required to continue to support those efforts.
Pending approval at Cabinet, €5 million funding will be invested in the "Ireland for Ukraine Fund" which is run by Community Foundation for Ireland.
A further €5m will be used to support the local development companies.
And €500,000 will be used to support volunteer centres that have seen a huge increase in demand for services.
