Gov. Tim Walz Leads In Favorability Over Sen. JD Vance

According to a recent 2024 survey on vice presidential candidates, Gov. Tim Walz currently holds a higher favorability rating than Sen. JD Vance among American voters. The survey, conducted by Washington Post/ABC News/Ipsos, revealed that 39% of Americans favor Walz, while 32% favor Vance. Additionally, 30% of respondents have an unfavorable opinion of Walz.

It appears that many Americans are still forming their opinions on Vice President Harris' running mate, as 31% of respondents did not provide an answer regarding their view of Walz. On the other hand, 44% of Americans disapprove of Walz as Harris' running mate.

When it comes to Sen. JD Vance, 32% of respondents have a favorable view of him, while 42% hold an unfavorable opinion of Trump's running mate. Interestingly, 26% of respondents did not answer the question about Vance, which is 5 percentage points less than those who did not provide an opinion on Walz.

Among rural voters, Vance is leading by 13 percentage points over Walz. Furthermore, Vance holds a significant lead of 37 points among White evangelical Protestants. However, Walz maintains a 16-point lead among individuals under 40 years old and is viewed more positively among both men and women, as indicated by the survey results.

The survey was conducted from August 9 to 13 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points. The upcoming first vice presidential debate between the two candidates is scheduled to take place on October 1.
